Formal Winter Wear for Men
Cold weather doesn't mean sacrificing style, in fact, winter is the time to test out layers that protect from the elements and look good while doing so. Whether it's a meeting, or formal dinner, your winter wardrobe can keep you warm and looking good.
The first layer of a good winter look always starts with Winter T-Shirts, thermal polos or full-sleeve Henleys. Breathability and warmth are important, as using either of these types of base layers will keep you comfortable all day, and both base layers will give you a nice tailored shape to either wear by itself, or under a jacket.
The outermost layer is where shape and style matter more than protection. I suggest Winter Jackets like quilted blazers, double-breasted wool coats, and classic tweed overcoats. Not only will they protect against the cold, but they will elevate the entire look. You cannot go wrong with neutrals; navy, charcoal, or camels are classic colors. But deeper hues such as burgundy, or olive green can add a sophisticated seasonal touch.
If your dress code is slightly casual, don’t be afraid to layer a wool blend cardigan or structured zip up sweater over a button-down shirt or a polo T-shirt. It adds depth and dimension while not feeling too heavy. Pair them with tailored trousers and finish with leather shoes or ankle boots. You can add warmth and personality with a scarf that complements the others colors and or textures.
When considering winter formal wear, your ultimate goal is to have warmth while looking refined and not bulky. Each layer should feel like an intentional decision including your base T-shirt to your last piece of outerwear.
When you’ve defined your essential pieces, Winter Wear is an effortless addition to your formal wardrobe, while showing that style shouldn’t take a back seat to functionality.
